Tips
for jazz music, arrangement and composition
Jazz vocalist Aya Ishida will share her
practice tips for both jazz vocalists and instrumentalists. She will also talk
about her experiences of recordings, arrangements and composing songs.
Bio:
Aya Ishida is a
jazz vocalist and composer. Originally from Japan, she moved to NYC in 2013 to
pursue a music degree at City University of New York City College. After
arriving in New York, Aya took her talent to new heights by studying with such
masters as Steve Wilson and Carolyn Leonhart (just to name a couple), and in
2017 she received a B.F.A in Jazz performance under the Kaye Scholarship
graduating with Degree Honors Magna Cum Laude. Now she performs regularly with
a wide range of musicians in NYC and Asia.
In 2018,
she released her debut album “Day by Day” having Grammy award winning
saxophonist Wayne Escoffery as a producer. It includes her favorite jazz
standards with her arrangements and her original compositions singing about her
struggles from chasing dreams in NYC. With a soulful voice and an energetic
heartfelt performance, she always captivates the audience.
